Die Form
have been making their own brand of dark electronic music for nearly two
decades: stark, sensual, and strikingly
beautiful - filled with operatic overtones,
classical textures, tribalism, and the
type of sensual imagery that is normally kept
hidden. Elements of bondage and
sadomasochism continually pepper their albums,
but these images are used with a strong
sense of good taste. Die Form raises
erotica to an art form in which
sensuality, not just sexuality, is their guiding light.
Their music is soothing, pulsing, filled
with Gregorian-styled female vocals, yet also
underpinned with a darkness that leaves
the listener slightly off-balance. Die Form
offers more than just music. It offers a
doorway into corridors you never knew were
there.
PHILIPPE FICHOT, creator of
Die Form, has been a photographer for more than 15
years. His work is almost always in black
& white, described as "an exploration of
the subconscious of eroticism and of the
dark poetry of the human body." He has
mastered the use of light and shade, as
well as darkroom manipulation, to an
extreme degree.Each photograph is
timeless, like seen through old mirrors, and an
esthetic offense bordering on the
prohibited. The figures float between life and death
in obscure fluids - perhaps drowned, or
perhaps sleeping and always exposed to the
eye of the voyeur. Dream visions:
projections of the theatre of the spirit.
